New Mandated Reporter Training Requirements (K-12)

Effective January 1, 2015, Assembly Bill 1432 will require school districts and county offices of education, as specified in Education Code section 44691, to:, (1) Provide training on the mandated reporting requirements of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (“Act”) to employees and to other persons working on their behalf who are mandated reporters, and, (2) Develop a process for all persons required to receive training to provide proof of completion within the first six weeks of each school year or, for new employees, within six weeks after employment. The process may include the use of a sign-in sheet or the submission of a certificate of completion to the governing board of the district or to the county office of education.
