On September 29, 2012, the governor signed AB 1575 (Lara Chapter 776), a bill that codifies the State Constitutional ban on pupil fees and details procedures for making a complaint against a public school for charging a student fee. The new statutes make it clear that the same prohibitions also apply to charter schools.
